The British Judo Association is sad to announce the untimely death of Stephanie Hart, 29, an accomplished judoka, who is thought to have passed away between 27th and 28th August, full details are yet to be confirmed.

Steph, who was a Corporal in the Army, represented Scotland in three Commonwealth Championships and the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002 when she took third place in the -78kg category.

A promising junior judoka, Steph won her first Scottish Senior National title at the tender age of 15 and first Commonwealth title at just 17-years-old. After joining the Army Steph continued with her passion for judo and proudly led the Combined Services Ladies Team to their first National team medal in 2002.

Having just returned from a seven month tour with Headquarters International Security Assistance Force (HQ ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan, Steph was the ultimate professional as well as a talented sportswoman, a true ambassador and role model for all Service men and women. Steph will be sadly missed by her colleagues and judo friends who remember her as an effervescent team player who always had time for everyone.
